Classic Craps
The success of Classic Craps is topped off with the dummy's finishing touches as it is by far the most widely recognized variant. In nearly every casino, customers find this kind of dice game under different local names - often crowded at heavy odds. With two dice and a table full of other players, it breaks into a few lines of play that can be confusing; there are, however, numerous ways to win on any given turn. An initial roll by the shooter opens the game: If they make 7 or 11 they win; If they throw 2, 3 or 12 it is a loss in their favor. The remaining numbers (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, or 10) set a "point." The shooter then repeats rolling until the point is made again before throwing a 7. Perhaps the most popular form for its abundant betting opportunities and fast-paced excitement is this one.
New York Craps
It is popular on the East Coast of the United States, which includes New York State, Massachusetts and other Eastern states, as well as some European casinos. In New York Craps, what makes it different from Standard Craps is its unique table layout. The "Come" and "Don't Come" bets so common on Classic Craps tables are not here at all; they are "tied" against a number of box numbers (and different bets for your bankroll). Players in this game bet on box numbers (4, 5, 6, 8, 9, and 10), with a few exceptions. For the most part, however, the rules and payouts are the same as those in Classic Craps. This change in layout and betting rules gives a fresh twist to experienced players yet caters simultaneously to newcomers who need more accessible games.
High Point Craps
High Point Craps was the unique spin on the conventional game. Players win on an initial roll of 11 or 12. However, if they roll a 2 or 3, they'll need to roll again instead of losing. The idea is to roll a high point number once you're 'out'. You should keep trying after each subsequent throw and come in before rolling a 7 again. Compared with the standard game, this variant decreases the house edge somewhat. It is an option that has attracted many seasoned players who want better chances of winning.
Simple or Simplified Craps
With Simplified Craps, or Simple Craps, all the complexity is stripped away for a less hectic gaming experience. The shooter wins if he rolls a 2, 3, 4, 10, 11, or 12 and he loses on any other number. Its simplified betting rules make Simplified Craps particularly attractive to beginners and casual players who can then enjoy the essence of craps without being bogged down trying to learn complex strategy or master several betting systems.
Die Rich Craps
Die Rich Shoot is a special edition that plays with one instead of two dice. You roll the one die and the object is the same as it always was - some numbers win, others lose. The six is the boson number, 1 is loss number. It is a simplified type of game, allowing on-the-fly changes. At the same time, it presents a new experience and very quickly gets the reader 120 moves ahead in no time flat. Most significantly though, and what makes this different from standard craps, is you use a single die. It brings both old players and new together.
Scarney Craps
Invented by author and gambling expert John Scarne, Scarney Craps removes one critical feature: the "come" and "don't come" bets. Why is this so interesting? Because in Scarney Craps people do not put money down on anything but these numbers - 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Moreover, there is not a house withholding commission on winning odds bets or any other fee charged against you at this time. One structural change not only limits sharply the house edge, but it also means the player has more chance of winning. So with Sic Bo, there is both niche popularity and a variant offering little or no house edge.
Open Craps
Open Craps has the basic structure and "open" approach, mainly designed for street craps. However, this version of play does typically ignore stringent casino regulations or even widely accepted principles about how betting should be conducted. In general, the bet is stacked against another player but not the house. The malleable ethos of Open format relies heavily on players' conscience, resulting in a fresh camaraderie that is sociable and organic. It is therefore a sight not unusual but rather widespread amongst friends without rigid constraints.
